April UFO is Done!

Here it is.  I decided to stay up late.  Sew lots and do not much else for the last 2 days.  I did take a break to mow the lawn, do laundry and attend a choir concert.  It has lots of strings that need to DSC00365 (2)_1_1be trimmed and binding that needs tacking.  I am also not thoroughly impressed with my quilting in the orange border.  I like the concept, but, Lola thinks it looks like toes.  She has some strange feet phobia.  I am patiently waiting to find out what the May UFO Challenge is.  Lola would really like it if I went back and finished January’s UFO, the dreaded Alaskan Christmas Quilt.  Can you say problems?  It is the “lets have the fabric bleed all over everything quilt”.  I am hoping for #8….Christmas Table Runner.  This would be a quick one and it would give me time to paint the inside of the house before the girls finish school for the year.
Here’s to a few days of not quilting….the family would like to spend some time with me.
I would love to hear from you mom’s out there.  What would you like for Mother’s Day?   I am thinking of a few things for mine.  I am always open to creative ideas.  I also am having a hard time answering that question for my own daughters.  It was suggested that I get the gift of the family straightening my sew room—NOOOOOOO! Lola also has a little OCD about organization.  I find this funny when I open her dresser drawers.
Happy Quilting,

  1. Hooray! It looks awesome! I can't see the toes too well, but enough to understand the reference. I think they look fine. As for Mother's Day, I'm not a mom, but found a place that sells kits to grow your own morel mushrooms for mine. Shhh! I hope she likes it because I know she hunts them every spring.

  2. I'm impressed! Last week you only had one row of flowers partly done. Now they are all done - and it's quilted! Good for you! As far as the Mother's Day present is concerned - tell them you want your house professionally cleaned (except your sewing room, of course). You can sew/organize while someone else does your Spring Cleaning! That was my present (a little early) and I'm loving it!

  4. I love that quilt!!!! I can not believe you got all those flowers done. Yikes! Did you sleep? At all? It is happy, fun, and beautiful. I couldn't really tell about the quilting (old eyes) but didn't look like toes to me. LOL
    Enjoy your family!

  5. It's such a beautiful quilt. For Mother's Day I'd like an fully automatic self cleaning expresso/ cappucinno machine. Will be happy with flowers and chocolate. Or a card and a hug. Just the hug even. Ann :-)

  6. Your April UFO is beautiful! As for Mother's Day -- I received the gift of a family photo session a few years ago. It was a lot of fun.

  8. Your quilt is beautiful, I love all the fun colors! For Mother's day I would be happy with a card or phone call from my kids. My Mom is getting a card, she insists she doesn't need anything. You could always request a gift card for your favorite quilt shop so you can get more fabric!

  9. What happy colors--congrats on a lovely finish--you accomplished a bunch! My mom is getting some organizer drawers for her kitchen cupboards (if they work) from Lowe's. I would love a new iron or dreaming big, how about a sewing machine! I'd be happy with some new dishtowels or a couple hugs though.

  10. It's an adorable quilt! I think it looks like feathers or flower petals on the orange. Not a mother, so I can't comment on that factor! :-)

  12. A very lovely quilt with beautiful colors.

One year my son bought me a set of kitchen knives because he said I never had a sharp knife when he was over. A few years later I explained to him that his gift was for him and not me. He doesn't shop on his own anymore. We came to an understanding and now I email him with the product number, link and pertinent information and he says it works a lot better for him (and me.) This year I am getting a BooS Block cutting board, which is kinda funny since I did not like the knives. Maybe I can use by Gingher Rotary cutter he gave me last year. LoL Happy Mother's Day to all from Judy C.
