April UFO & a peak at the Japanese Fabric

I have done some work on the April UFO.  I certainly can’t believe that I will finish it before the end of the month.  I still have lots of work.  I am looking forward to the month when an almost done quilt is chosen.  Life did some getting in the way of the quilting.
DH spent some time in Tokyo, I joined Weight Watchers, and I picked up some extra time at work.

You can see I have a few more rows of applique to sew down.  This quilt is going much slower than I thought that it would.  It is irritating how much I have to scrunch the quilt and make it fit under the machine.  You can see the close up of the flowers.  I have to make the red inside of all the flowers.  coins close up_3_1
The prints that came home from Japan are border prints.  All but one of the prints have the border on both ends of the print.  I love the variety of the prints and can’t believe the beautiful colors.  When DH said he found me some fabric, this was not what I was expecting.

japan fabricThe “store” was just a street vendor.  I am looking forward to working with them.

Hope to keep in touch,

  1. It may be irrritating to have to work the fabric under the needle to do the flower applique, but it is going to be so worth it when you finish. Your quilt is going to be gorgeous! Love the flowers! I can't wait to see what you do with your Japanese fabrics, they are beautiful!

  3. Your UFO is great. I don't think I remember seeing it before and I love the applique on there. Marsha said it - it will be worth the effort when it's done. And the Japanese fabrics are incredible, but not what I would have expected either. Are they cotton?

  7. Your UFO is so beautiful. I know the applique is difficult getting the bulk under the machine, but it is so worth it. Love all the colors.
Can't wait to see what you do with the fabrics from Japan.

  8. I agree with Liriopia - this is one of the first "coin" quilts I have seen that I really like! I love the colors! The Japanese border prints make me think of "spider web" blocks (EQ7 calls them Four X variations). And - like Beth - I can't wait to see what you do with them.
